Upcoming Data on Kubernetes Community Events

As we welcome a new season – for some of us spring has sprung and others are buckling down for fall. No matter which season you’re welcoming in, seasonal changes bring fresh opportunities. We are excited to announce new ways for us to gather as a community. We have some exciting DoK community events, including some big firsts for us.

DoK @ KubeCon EU –  April 17-21

First up, we have some fantastic happenings around KubeCon EU, taking place in Amsterdam next week. Join us for a DoK Meetup at Adyen’s offices on Roykin on Tuesday April 18 at 17:30. Sebastian Mannem will talk about implementing data and databases on K8s within the Dutch government. Tor Bendiksen and Luuk Stolk, both Lead Engineers of the ING Container Hosting Platform team, will share how ING deals with local persistence at scale in a secure and compliant manner. RSVP is required (it’s free!) by April 17 at https://bit.ly/3zSch13.

Members of the DoK Operator SIG are hosting a panel at KubeCon, April 20th at 11:00 CET (Hall 7, Room D), discussing how the SIG is finding solutions to the toughest challenges facing Kubernetes operators when running DoK. Check out the details here https://sched.co/1HyZU.

Bay Area Meetup – May 17

We are excited to announce our first community-organized Bay Area DoK Meetup. Several of our amazing sponsors are coming together to build a fun and educational event. Lots more details will be coming but for now, save the date. And if you’re running DoK and have lessons learned, best practices, or an interesting case study, we are looking for educational DoK talks for the event. Here’s a link with guidance on how to submit yours today: https://www.meetup.com/bay-area-data-on-kubernetes-community/events/292586875/

DoKC Town Hall – May 18

Another exciting first! DoK will host its first Town Hall on May 18 at 9a PDT. We’re excited that Comcast and Netflix will join to share their experiences, successes and lessons learned with DoK and how they’ve found value in the DoK ecosystem. Town Halls are monthly virtual gatherings to bring the community together to meet each other, to share end user stories, DoK-related projects and technologies, and to keep you up-to-date on community events and ways to participate. Details on how to attend are here: https://www.meetup.com/data-on-kubernetes-community/events/292717745/

We look forward to seeing you at these events. If you have any feedback on our upcoming events, drop it in the comments or reach out to DoKC Staff on Slack.
